Realme X2 Pro vs Redmi K20 Pro vs Asus 6z: At Rs 30,000, which flagship killer should you choose?

Realme X2 Pro

HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Realme X2 Pro with 50W fast charging and Snapdragon 855 Plus starts at Rs 29,999.
  • The Redmi K20 Pro with a Snapdragon 855 chipset starts at Rs 25,999.
  • The Asus 6z with its unique Flip Camera and 5000mAh battery starts at Rs 27,999.

Ever since September 2019, the Indian smartphone market has been witnessing a surge of new premium smartphones across various price points. You have the best ones in the form of iPhone 11 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10 whereas a couple of affordable options have blossomed in the more affordable segments. By affordable, I mean the Rs 30,000 bracket and the latest one to be a part of this list is the Realme X2 Pro. I reviewed it recently and had quite impressions about it, given its price.
However, for slightly less than Rs 30,000, you have two completely different options at slightly lower prices. You have the majestic Redmi K20 Pro that Xiaomi sells at a starting price of Rs 25,999. The K20 Pro is Xiaomi's current flagship in India and it offers premium-grade specifications.
If the Redmi K20 Pro is too majestic, you have the Asus 6z, known as the ZenFone 6 is certain markets. The Asus 6z stands out from the crowd with its unique Flip Camera system and a stock Android experience.
Hence, at Rs 30,000, you have three completely different options with variety. And if you are confused between your preferences, here's a brief rundown of the specifications and which one's good at what.

Realme X2 Pro: Fast in every sense

The Realme X2 Pro has been launched at a starting price of Rs 29,999 in India and there are the Master Edition variants that you could end up paying Rs 34,999. For that price, Realme says the X2 Pro is the fastest phone in many regards with flagship specifications.
The Realme X2 Pro runs on a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset which is currently the most powerful Qualcomm chipset for Android phones. The Snapdragon 855 Plus offers 15 per cent superior graphics performance over the regular Snapdragon 855, which makes it suitable for gaming. Realme has also added to the 'fastness' feeling with a 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display that does have a small notch but also includes a fingerprint sensor.
When it comes to performance, the Redmi K20 Pro is as fast as any other 2019 flagship phone. The Redmi K20 makes use of the Snapdragon 855 chipset and you can spec it up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. There's also MIUI 11 onboard based on Android 10 that's great at power optimisation while offering hundreds of customization options that will keep you entertained for months. The 4000mAh battery under moderate usage is good enough for an entire day while you can get a 27W fast charger to fill it up quickly, although not as quickly as the Realme X2 Pro.
Where the Redmi K20 Pro falters is the cameras. There's a set of triple rear cameras consisting of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor, 13-megapixel wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x zoom. These cameras are good at what they do but they fall behind when you compare the results to phones like the OnePlus 7T and Asus 6z. With the MIUI 11 update, the camera performance has improved slightly but if you are a shutterbug, you won't raise your eyebrows.

Asus 6z: Unique in every way

The Asus 6z is a unique premium phone in every way - unique in the way it uses it cameras and unique in the way it works every day. The Asus 6z makes the best use of its high-resolution cameras for both selfies and main photos. The 6z has a pair of 48-megapixel main camera with the Sony IMX586 sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera placed in a flip module that flips it over for taking selfies. Hence, you get the same great quality photos in whichever mode you choose. And, you can go creative by manually controlling the angle of the flip camera.
The Asus 6z also takes quite natural-looking photos, which is great for photography enthusiasts. In our review, we liked what the Asus 6z cameras had to offer. And that's not all. The Asus 6z uses the Snapdragon 855 chipset and it comes with ZenUI 6, which is one of the best Android skins we saw this year, ZenUI 6 brings the best of stock Android with meaningful upgrades, and now it runs on Android 10. Hence, performance is always top-notch in the Asus 6z. And with a 5000mAh battery, you can easily keep using phone with moderate usage for more than a day. The IPS LCD display has slim bezels and it's bright as well as vibrant.
However, where the Asus 6z raises concerns is with regards to the durability of the Flip module. However, Asus says the Flip module should work for long and is durable enough for regular wear and tear. You can get the Asus 6z at a starting price of Rs 27,999.
All seem great but which one should you pick?
All three phones are great in their own ways and hence picking a winner is difficult. The Realme X2 Pro is suitable for those who care about gaming and fast battery charging. The Redmi K20 Pro is the most flamboyant option that offers a special user experience. The Asus 6z has highly capable cameras and offers a great performance package.
I always prefer a phone that's fast, has good battery life, looks good and makes me feel special. Hence, I would pickup the Redmi K20 Pro and even save some money.
Do note that OnePlus still sells the OnePlus 7 at Rs 28,999 but it feels outdated when compared to the listed options. Mind you, the OnePlus 7 is a good pick for performance freaks but all the phones at this price offer equally good performance.

Call of Duty: Mobile set to remove popular Zombies game mode

Call of Duty: Mobile has confirmed that Zombies mode will be removed from the game as of March 25, on account of the game's creators finding it to be lacking in quality.  We had always mentioned it was limited but with no explicit end-date. We wanted to see the reception, see the feedback, and see how we can potentially shape the mode for the future. However, the mode just didn't reach the level of quality that we desire," developer Timi Studios wrote in a recent community update. Additionally, the studio will also not release Nacht Der Untoten, the second zombie's mode map it had been working on, globally. "We may bring the mode back, with Nacht Der Untoten, once we can make sure it is high enough quality," said Timi. The mode may be brought back at some point in the future with the Nacht Der Untoten map, but the team wants to ensure it is of "high enough quality" before doing so. Call of Duty: Mobile has been an enormous success
